The Vignette Guide
Every car using the motorways (A-roads) and expressways (S-roads) needs a Vignette. You can buy a physical sticker at gas stations or go digital. Note: Digital vignettes have an 18-day waiting period for individuals!
Mountain Mastery
Driving in the Alps requires specific gear. Winter tires are mandatory from Nov 1 to April 15. In heavy snow, "Schneeketten" (snow chains) may be legally required on certain passes.
Section Tolls (Streckenmaut)
Even with a Vignette, certain large tunnels (like Arlberg or Brenner) require an extra toll. Use the "Flex" payment system to skip the queue at the toll booths.
